Amylee Paris was born in 1978 in Nimes in South of France and has learnt the ways of fine art, becoming skilled in academic painting, drawing and sculpture at an early age. Educated through private studios and studying at Beaux-Art School in Nimes, France whilst also completing a licence in Plastic Arts from the University of Montpellier and a Master in Design & Colour from the University of Toulouse. She continued to work in Paris as a publication coordinator for design and trend agencies before becoming a full-time artist in 2008 creating floral and figurative works that capitalise on the faded, textured and bejewelled backgrounds.

The process begins by starting with a new canvas and working with acrylic paint. Identifying the composition of a place is usually sketched in photoshop for positioning before developing onto canvas. She has been inspired by colour impressionists like Gustav Klimt, and Sir Alma Tadema and the colour combinations of fashion designers Christian Lacroix and Jean Paul Gaultier, and comic artists such as Alessandro Barbucci.

Within the studio Amylee is a strong believer of feng shui and Japanese culture, the space creates a harmony of balance that provides the clarity to let go and immerse within her works. Her art is structured and organised much like her space. Modular and delightful, most of her furniture has wheels to provide the convenience of moving it around in a colour-coordinated fashion as a time saver to reach desired paints, mediums and brushes while at her easel.

Understanding the way of sculptural production and texture Amylee has adapted the technique of creating a continuity of the shattered imperfection. She begins another cycle instead by using the gold details and fine dot patterns of painted embellishments that symbolise the change and unity that develops from this fragmented appearance. The figurative piece is blossoming from the abstract surroundings to appear more emotional and victorious, as we are embracing the flaws that form a better understanding.

Art is a part of daily life; in our clothes, our homes, and on transport from the roads we go. When we find the art that we find a reflection and voice in, however, whether we have made it ourselves or if it hangs on our wall, in the clothes we wear it is a moment that makes us feel whole again. Whether it be for our inner self or for the impression of those we come by. Amylee has made that work as her own artistic signature to flourish, as we can gain that too; for our minds and our home.
